Small Businesses Get Advice on Landing Contracts at PTAC Event

“Market yourself, market yourself.”

That was the advice Shane Springer, Procurement Technical Assistance Center state director of the Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, gave to local business leaders Friday during a Launch NWI event.

The event was aimed at helping small business owners and entrepreneurs grow by giving them the resources needed to learn about opportunities to work with other businesses, secure government contracts and cut through red tape and inefficient government answering systems.

The event was sponsored by the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce and held at the Radisson Star Plaza in Merrillville.

State Rep. Julie Olthoff, R-Crown Point, said she helped to bring the event to Merrillville because she felt Northwest Indiana businesses were losing out on many opportunities and contracts.

Springer conceded that some companies become complacent and work with the same companies for years.

“But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your foot in the door. Reach out to them and market yourself. We can help by telling you your competitors’ price points,” Springer said.    Read More,,,,
