Small Business Owner Lied to Secure HUBZone Contracts

Sentencing postponed for former construction company owner

A former Stark County business owner will have to wait a little longer to find out his fate.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge John R. Adams continued the sentencing hearing for William “Buster” Richardson III and his company TAB Construction, this time to determine what happened to the proceeds of the company when its assets were sold.

TAB went out of business in 2014.

Richardson of Plain Township and his company TAB Construction pleaded guilty in April 2014 to wire fraud, a felony. He lied about TAB’s office location to secure certain government contracts totaling $34.3 million that the business wouldn’t otherwise be eligible to receive.
